About My Chosen People Inc.
The What
My Chosen People Inc. was founded on April 26, 2014 with 12 active Board Members. Our program is designed for women that are pregnant facing Substance Abuse Disorder (SUD) and women released from prison who anticipate reunifying with their children. There is a lack of drug treatment residential facilities for pregnant women in Kentucky. My Chosen People is committed to protecting the lives of women who suffer from addiction.
The Who
The focus of My Chosen People is to equip women with the skills needed to support themselves and their children. We are currently facilitating 6- to 8-week program sessions at Dismas Charities for formerly incarcerated women. We work closely with Child Protective Services and families to help these women regain their parental rights. Our goal is for every woman we serve to remain sober and embrace a healthy lifestyle. Upon completing the program, each family is assigned a case manager, peer support, and therapist who will provide assistance for up to one year—or as long as needed.
The Why
We believe that every woman and child deserves a second chance at life. My Chosen People aims to be the missing link that supports each mother and child on their journey. We value life and hope both mother and child can recover and embrace a healthy lifestyle. My Chosen People offers mental health and substance abuse sessions, dental care assistance, job search and placement services, case management, peer support, housing, and parenting classes. We are committed to collaboration and work closely with our community partners.
